When Beardy Met PickMe
I recently found myself somehow embroiled in a stand off between a PickMeGirl and some decidedly more intelligent women.
I mean, I say I found myself embroiled but what really happened of course was that I opened my big gob and commented.
Note to self: Take Own Advice.
Not only had the Pickmedefender not understood what a Pickmegirl is, she was deeply offended at the idea that a woman not validate another woman's crappy behaviour.
In retrospect, interaction with Dunning Krugerites never ends well. I should have learned this by now.
Here's a snippet from my comments:
No pick me girl is in any danger from another woman pointing out they find manpandering damaging, pickmegirls are not being prevented from manpandering by people commenting on it and they have the right to keep behaving that way. Additionally, women often dislike and disagree with one another without the slightest hint of jealousy. And disagreement is just part of life’s rich tapestry.
Cat, meet pigeons.
The now thoroughly offended Pickmedefender and her ally GuardianofthePickmes went on to write thesis length comments defending the honour of pickmegirls against meany jealous feminazis who have the nerve to disagree with manpandering.
Never forget that the zeitgeist is validation. Telling people the truth is bullying. And any woman who disagrees with any other woman anywhere for any reason must be jealous of her.
Despite me helpfully pointing out that she should read my article "Learn Critical Analysis and Use It In Your Comments" and asking her if English was her second language, for some reason she just kept rattling on.
Le sigh. I gave up because, as I said: "It’s absolutely pointless you arguing against points I didn’t make and making assumptions based on your own views... I won't continue to debate this as there is nothing further to debate. You may of course continue to reply, but as there's nothing further to say I won't check back. Ciao."
In other words, don’t enter into a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
“Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
It turns out reading comprehension is not the strong suit of the Pickmegirl. I decided to file this under "things I learned not to do again in the future" and wandered off to lose myself in the labyrinthian maze of articles. And then I came upon this smashing piece:
And with that, some inspiration sleet smashed into my frontal cortex and I had a great idea.
I think we should get my girls and her guys together. The beardy blokes who heroically try to shut women up everywhere, and the Pickmeguardians who pluckily defend internalised misogyny.
A match made in heaven.
